Plantar Fasciitis Care in the Saint Croix Valley
The Plantar Recovery Program
In 2026, The Steward Clinic developed a plantar fasciitis treatment protocol. The protocol focuses on the three “M’s”. “Mechanics, Movement, and Modulation.”
Mechanics: The first step in The Steward Clinic’s Plantar Recovery Program is to restore the biomechanics of the body’s frame. This involves chiropractic adjustments of the spine and leg/foot joints. Restoring normal joint function reduces pain and supports soft-tissue healing.
Movement: As the joint function becomes stabilized, the next step is to stretch and strengthen the weak and tight tissues.
Modulation: The final step in The Steward Clinic’s Plantar Recovery Program is “photobiomodulation (PBM).” PBM is the use of light to aid in healing. Our clinic uses the Erchonia XLR8 Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) medical device. LLLT is a noninvasive, non-painful treatment that has been studied extensively for plantar fasciitis with strong results. LLLT gives cells the energy that they need to heal.
PROCESS
Consultation & Examination: The process begins with a one-on-one conversation with Dr. Steward. He will assess if you are a candidate for The Plantar Recovery Program. This visit will consist of a case history and hands-on physical exam.
The Program: If you are deemed to be a good candidate for The Program, care can likely begin the same day as the exam. The program consists of 12 visits over a six-week period (two office visits per week for six weeks).
